Volunteer Debt Advisors

We have several vacancies for volunteer Debt Advisors.

In this role you will assist clients to get a clear picture of their financial situation, ensure correct entitlement to benefits where appropriate and negotiate with creditors up to and including bankruptcy.

Volunteer Generalist Advisor Vacancies

In this role you will assist clients in topics ranging from benefits entitlement, housing issues, relationship matters, initial employment and consumer support to taking transport bookings and arranging appointments with specialists or third-parties eg local solicitors at the VCI’s hosted legal surgeries.

The ideal candidate for both the Generalist and Debt Advisor vacancies would be comfortable dealing with clients and other agencies in person, by telephone and letter. You will have an empathetic, non judgemental approach and will value accuracy and attention to detail. Volunteers will be expected to take both external and in house training to meet the requirements of the role and will receive ongoing support from our experienced mentoring team. Full training will be given on the software programmes used by the VCI. Volunteers must be available for 2 sessions per week, either morning or afternoon.

All applicants will need to provide references.

Good Neighbour Vacancies (at this time some befriending is happening simply by telephone or letter)

Could you befriend a lonely person?
Do you have DIY or admin skills?
Are you interested in helping people who are going through a time when they need a little extra support?
Time given for the Good Neighbour Scheme is flexible and the amount given is entirely up to the volunteer.

All applicants will need to complete a DBS check (we will arrange and pay for this) and provide a reference.

Driver Vacancies

Do you have your own car and some time? Are you able to transport our clients to and from the Wantage and Grove Day Centres, October Club and Faringdon Day Centre? Or to medical and hospital appointments?

Petrol costs could be reimbursed at 45 pence per mile.
Any time given for the Driver posts is very flexible and entirely up to the volunteer.
All applicants will need to complete a DBS check (we will arrange and pay for this) and provide a reference.
